DR CONGO - This is a great quality coffee doing some of the greatest human good, in helping war-ravaged Congolese coffee farmers near Lake Kivu in east DR Congo recover economically and socially from the devastating genocide in nearby Rwanda that spilled over into their region. Clean and balanced with good dried fruit notes, apricot and fig being dominant.
GUATEMALA - This Guatemalan high-grown origin comes from a remote cooperative called Todos Santos. The co-op works closely with the Guatemalan-owned association TG Labs which works to improve quality and yield, and thus increase the earnings of the farmers. A delicate and complex cup, look for notes of lemon, grape, berry, tangerine, dark chocolate, and floral aroma.
RWANDA - I'm excited to have some Rwandan back in stock. Always a favorite of mine. This Fair-Trade certified coffee comes from the Kopakaki group in the Karongi District of western Rwanda. A complex flavor profile, look for blackberry, black currant, dried orange peel, holiday spice, black tea, and caramel, with an elegant acidity, and tea-like body.
BALI BLUE MOON - This coffee is one of my consistent best-sellers, and easy to see why. It's smooth and syrupy, with a very subtle acidity. The touch of black licorice lends an exotic touch to this socially and environmentally sustainable coffee from one of the world's most beautiful and exotic islands.
ETHIOPIA - This is a natural-processed Grade 1 coffee, grown on small-holder farms at high elevations in Kembata region south-west of the capital Addis Ababa. Fruit-forward flavors, rich in berry notes, jump out of these coffee cups, providing a flavor profile that stands out among Ethiopian origins.
PERU - This Peruvian lot is grown high in the Andes Mountains in the Cajamarca region. This coffee was cultivated by the outstanding organically-certified San Ignacio cooperative. Notes of dark chocolate and honey, orange and hints of lemon, roasted at medium.
SUMATRA KETIARA TRIPLE-PICKED - This Sumatra has one of the most pleasant flavor profiles I've had in recent years. It is triple-hand-picked, to remove beans with irregularities and imperfections, and is produced by a highly-motivated and skilled cooperative run by women. Sweet, robust, syrupy, fruit notes.
